I could barely think about or focus on the other readings for the 15 th Sunday in Ordinary Time because the Power of the first reading from the Book of Isaiah was so strong to me and within me. The Lord said: “my word shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it.”   The Creator (or whatever name you call the Divine or the Almighty) spoke the word and creation came to being.   Jesus (the way, the truth, and the life) became the Word enfleshed for us.   All is in the Creator’s Plan; all will be fulfilled according to that Word.

            So here I am, trying to fulfill the calling I sense to share my reflection this day… while my family is experiencing a genuine and on-going crisis.   I really can barely think since sleep has been so minimal for about a week now.   How do I pray?  What do I say?  What do I feel?

            It is the unfamiliar, total surrender of having no control and just trusting the Divine, Who is all knowing, all loving, and all powerful.   The Plan is perfect, though it doesn’t seem that way so very often, now or in even reasonably normal situations. The word that I believe, the will of the Lord, is Good.

            So, I pray with exhaustion and few words, asking for mercy and God’s Presence.   I do feel a bit numb, but maybe that is a different sense of peace and calmness for which there are no words. God's got this.

            The second reading from the Letter to the Romans reminds me that I am groaning along with all creation.   Waiting is not easy.   What an understatement!  I only hope the Gospel message that the soil into which the Word has been planted in me also has the Buffer of the Lord against the world’s anxiety that normally comes with such human conditions.

Blessings,

From today’s Psalm Response:

Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;

you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom. R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Reflection:

Jesus praises the Father because the deepest truths of God's kingdom are not grasped by power, status, or intelligence alone, but by hearts that are humble and open. Like little children, we are invited to trust God and receive his wisdom as a gift.

So, we ask ourselves:

Do I approach God with humility and openness, or do I rely only on my own understanding?
What "mystery" of God's love have I discovered through simple faith?
How can I become more childlike in my trust of God today?
