General Intercessions

Seventeenth Sunday of Ordered Time

July 27, 2025

Presider: Jesus taught us to call God Our Father. We pray to Our Father; not My Father. With confidence in the words of Jesus, we offer our needs and concerns to Our Father.

Deacon/ Lector/ Cantor: Please respond: “Father, Hear our prayer”

1.Father, send the Spirit to inspire Pope Leo and our bishop ______ to model compassion and forgiveness in the world, we pray

2. Father, strengthen and inspire Cardinals, Bishops, Clergy, and Religious to practice compassion, listening, and forgiveness in their assigned communities, we pray.

3. Father, strengthen moms and dads to listen to their children, practice patience and compassion as they form their children for adulthood, we pray

4. Father, change the hearts of politicians from seeking power, wealth, and prestige to being attentive to their constituents with mercy and compassion in their struggles, we pray

5. Father, inspire and strengthen educators with renewed commitment and creative lesson planning so to broaden horizons of students, we pray

6. Father, inspire and energize first responders, doctors, nurses, therapists, and mental health professionals to respect each person they treat, care for, counsel, we pray

7. Father, create a culture in military and military leadership and planners to search for ways to safeguard civilians, we pray

8. That those who died this week (list here) and those approaching death are supported by faith and sacrament. That the intention of this Mass, (list here) ____is (are) remembered in our prayers, we pray

9. Let us petition God for personal needs and for help resolving concerns of hand, mind, and heart: (pause) Let us place these intentions on the altar with the financial gifts we offer for the ministries of our community, we pray

Presider: God, our Father, we beg you to soften hearts to create a culture of peace, respect for each other, and provide resources for subsidence, housing, education, and health care for persons in the world. We ask this in the name of you Son, our Brother who lives with you in the unity of the Spirit.
