Pilgrimage to the
Lands of Dominic - 1985
By: Barbara Cooper
Today was spent on the bus from Caleruega to Tarbes, France.
This is one of the few times we will be staying at a "regular" hotel. We
had a good laugh when we found ourselves at a Best Western! But it had a
French "flavour". Some of our group are taking a side trip to Lourdes. I
feel exhausted and cranky, looking forward to a hot shower and good
sleep. This is the first time I've been warm since leaving Madrid.
The long bus journey gave me a feeling for the
distances the early Friars walked
- preaching as they went. I think of Dominic - a man of joy and prayer,
a man who treasured his friends, and in their common passion for living
and preaching the Gospel, deepened in relationship to become "Family".
Simon Tugwell
wrote:
"The faith of God in people makes, every
now and then, a person come true.
And then a heart is rhythmed to the very beat of God,
a mind to truth, and a mouth to gospel,
wooing the matter of man to God." |
I'm grateful for my little luggage, and the ability to
pass by things without buying them! At least - so far!
