Pilgrimage to the Lands of Dominic - 1985
By: Barbara Cooper

We visit St. Mary supra Minerva - given to the Order of Preachers in 1260 or 70. Catherine and Fra Angelico are buried there, and I am sitting by Catherine's tomb. She was a woman for God; as I'd like to be. She and Dominic had a "single eye", focused on the Word. They made their home in the "cell of self knowledge" as Catherine calls it. In that place of awareness, we come to know ourselves and God, and are empowered to love.

At the Pantheon with it's huge columns and dome.....the engineering of these places -forum, catacombs, coliseum - is staggering. In St Peters the floor is marked off to show how much bigger it is in comparison with other church buildings, and the dome of the pantheon boasts that it is larger than the dome of St. Peters.....and we wonder why there are wars!
